    Weight Loss -- The most important point about excess weight is that it is FAR easier to prevent excess weight gain than it is to lose it so act preventively -- Don’t gain excess fat pounds to begin with. 
    Once gained the two most important elements to lose it are:
1. Regular, sufficient, aerobic exercise to burn more calories than consumed and to keep your metabolic rate high.
2. Low fat, high fiber, high nutrient diet with fewer calories than what you burn.  Refer to our Wise Nutrition Course for more details.

     After these two elements are firmly established other items can be investigated such as endocrine imbalances (hypothyroidism, etc.) and diet aids. A functional medicine oriented physician can be consulted concerning endocrine imbalance. Diet aids such as acupuncture, hypnosis, nutritional supplements can help some people lose weight. Targeted brain neurotransmitter replenishment supplementation with amino acids has proven to be very effective in weight loss because of its ability to suppress appetite.

     Strict calorie counting has proven more successful than calorie guessing. Calorie counting means measuring all foods eaten and calculating precisely their calorie content…plus reading labels for calories of processed foods…then journaling all calories consumed is what works. Anything less than that is calorie guessing and EVERYONE underestimates their caloric intake.

     A particular warning about medication type weight loss programs. Some have extremely serious side effects. They should only be considered in the morbidly obese after all other safer means have failed and after consultation with physicians who also use neurotransmitter replenishment nutritional supplementation.
